Ten Forward

Not too long after his introduction to the rest of the crew, Lex slipped away to head back to the Lounge area. That particular part of the ship had been his main workspace for several months now. He knew he would have to share that space one day, and he was certainly prepared for it ( Read more... )

Nate had been wandering around the newly opened areas of the ship. Some were interesting. Some weren't so. But at least he'd be familiar with them. The last place he came across however, was the Lounge. He hadn't seen Lex come back with the Bridge Team. Didn't know that he was supposedly a bad man. All he knew was that, this person he hadn't seen on the ship before (which was totally understandable taking into account the size of the ship and its number of occupants) was asking about him.

He chuckled wryly when he heard the question, shaking his head a little. "Nothing much to tell. Trust me. What about you?"

Lex smirked at the kid. Teenagers, always with the confidence issues. "Now that can't be the case. There has to be something to tell about yourself. You can start with your name.

"So what'll you have, Mister...?"

Nate caught the smirk and smiled beside himself. He was probably coming off as an insecure teenage brat. Well, he was that just wouldn't do.

"No mister. I'm Nathaniel Richards. But I suppose you could call me Nate." He was really getting sick of hearing his own name called. He offered the man his hand, noting how he'd deftly dodged the question about himself.

"Surprise me, Mister...?" His smile was friendly enough. He hadn't met many people on the ship. And he saw no reason to be antagonistic to this particular person.

"Luthor. Lex Luthor," he told Nate as he shook his hand.

"So, Nate, how long have you been on board?" He pulled out a clean glass, and began to mix up something for Nate. He figured he'd stay light on the liquor, didn't want the boy to fall over.

Selene had come to check out the place. And there he was. Someone who was...so familiar. So very, very familiar. But something was off.

Of course she wasn't so good with ages to place someone who was a few decades younger than the Lex Luthor she's seen on TV.

"I'm actually looking around," Selene said, leaning on the bar to look at the drinks. "I don't drink myself. But I'm fine with a conversation if you can tell me your name. I'm Selene Jones."

"Curiosity is an admirable trait." Or insufferable. It all depends on whether you were the one looking, or being looked in to.

"And I'd be glad for the conversation. I'm Lex Luthor, proprietor of this humble establishment."

"Wouldn't it technically be Stacy whose propri-what did you say?" Selene said, head snapping towards Lex, looking surprised.

She studied him more carefully now. "...my lord...you'd look like that when I was like...five! Maybe younger..."

That got him to raise his eyebrows.

"I would?"

"Mr. Allen, if I remember correctly." At the very least, he looked just like the Bart Allen who had been a thorn in his side.

"I thought you were all about the speed. The werewolf trick is new."

"Uh, no, my name is Wags-Tail-a-Lot. Of you want to get really technical on that, my birth name is Eddie, but I haven't used that one for years."

"Eddie?" Interesting. "And you've never been to Smallville, Eddie?"

"I'm Mr. Wednesday," this old man says, with that certain friendly, supremely inoffensive blandness about him that could come only from long experience. "You're an interesting man, Mr. Luthor."

"I'm just a simple businessman," he stated, in that almost but not quite genuinely humble way.

"And you look like an interesting man yourself. I bet you've seen quite a few things over lifetime."

And Mr. Wednesday is just an old man. Yes. Sure.

"Oh, a few things, here and there," Mr. Wednesday says with a vaguely dismissive gesture. He leans forward just a little to eye the liquors. "Is there any absinthe back there?"

"A man who favors the spirits," he noted. He poured a glass, but left a separate bottle of water on the table, just in case Wednesday couldn't handle something of that high of a proof and wanted to thin it down some. It wouldn't do for the old man to keel over and die in his establishment, after all.

"But I bet being on the ship probably tops most of them."

Jo was checking out the newer areas of the ship - basically adding them to her layout of places she needed to keep an eye on.

She had to admit that the lounge was impressive - more so because it actually had good stuff to drink. Though, she's openly wary about the guy running the place. More so since she'd heard there were versions of him being a badass supervillian.

"In my world I'm a sheriff's deputy and a former Army Ranger," she tells him, giving him a look that all but says she will break him in half if he looks at her sideways. "What more do you need to know?"

Lex only offered a welcome smile in return. He could be quite the host when he wanted to be.

"Not a whole lot. Though I would like to know your name, and what you want to drink."

She relaxes a little bit. "Jo Lupo," she offers, with a nod of her head. "And from what I hear, you're name is Lex Luthor."

She thinks for a moment. What does she want to drink? "Gin and tonic. Please." She hasn't had one of those in what seemed like forever. Sounded really good about now.

"Not even five minutes with you guys, and already my name is infamous. You'd think I'd be used to that kind of thing." Though it was sort of nice to know that even among multiple dimensions, he reputation preceded him.

"So where are you from, Jo?" he asked, using the higher quality gin to mix her drink.
