The Roach Motel ("they'll check in, but they won't be checking out")

Oct 09, 2008 00:07

Inside the Vatican, the remaining free crew was putting the last finishing touches on their choke point/kill zone, or as someone had dubbed it, "the roach motel". They had cleaned out the first four rooms of both the Egyptian Museum and the Etruscan Museum on the floor above, so they could knock out the floor and shoot at the roaches below. That ( Read more... )

It wasn't as though he were a practicing Catholic, really. Kurt had done some reading and all, but it wasn't as though he'd belonged to a church. There was something intimidating about this place, though. He'd actually winced as some of the others had made a mess out of the doors, though he knew this place was a copy or something.

God helped those that helped themselves. They'd just had to improvise a little bit. You know, like him popping into space a few feet away from a pack of the monstrosities and trying to grab their collective attention.

"Hey.. uhm. Hey you, Ugly!" He had to make a lot of noise, a lot of movement, draw them to him..

Pat and Toxin were peering at the hole in the floor of one of the Etruscan room, pacing uneasily around the gap. Pat didn't venture too near it, though-instead, he just eyeballed the edges. "Think the rest of the floor'll stay put?"

He wasn't worried about himself if the rest of the floor decided to join the knocked-in portions; it was the people who couldn't fly, jump, or otherwise scramble out of the way that concerned him.

Lyta was standing at a distance from the hole, her eyes narrowed in concentration as she continued to try to get Stacy's attention. There was no escaping it. They were outnumbered. They needed help and, yet, Stacy was no where to be found, had made no effort to help them. And what about the other A.I.'s she'd been told about? Where the hell were they? Why the hell weren't they at least giving them some kind of information?

"What's it matter?" Lyta said, her anger toward Stacy beginning to drag her belief that they would get out of this alive. "If those bugs manage to get this far I think the floor will be the least of our worries."

"Master?"

In front of him, the fighting continued but the Doctor was no longer even pretending to pay attention. Could it be...?!

It couldn't be! But it was, undeniably.

And it wouldn't be the first time that...

Or the last, most likely.

Without a glance at his compatriots or their enemies, the Doctor took off at a run, ducking and dodging as needed. He had to see.

The Master heard his call, and waited for him part-way. Fidgeting as he acquainted himself with his new flesh-suit, he spotted the familiar sight of a pin-stripe tent peg running at him.

A blissful look on his face, he whispered, "Doctor."

The Doctor, while perhaps not so pin-striped anymore, was still quite reminiscent of a tent peg, and definitely running. He didn't stop until he'd collided with the Master, wrapping the smaller Time Lord in a bear hug.

"Master," he said wonderingly, closing his eyes in case it all fell apart again.

Thanks to the suits, the collision came with less of a thud and more of a squish.

The Master exhaled with satisfaction, "I missed this."
