The Return of Time

Jun 11, 2011 09:46

As the Clock was destroyed, all of the stolen time rushed back to it's original owners, causing them to rapidly age back to normal. But as the crew would soon notice, it seemed that the stolen time didn't always go back to exactly the right place...

Dean was in the living room making 'vroom vroom' sounds quietly while he played. He liked the Cars movie, and insisted Sam do repeat showings of it.

He then doubled over, trying to keep down the pain he was feeling as his body shifted and abruptly grew from his four year old self to his thirty year old form. His clothes shredded around him and he started to curl up on himself.

At the same time, memories were flashing in his brain. Seventy years of memories crashed in within minutes. His body then seized on him, his limbs stiffening before he shook, and eventually lapsed into unconsciousness.

Four years old seemed to be stable. It gave Sam more days of not having to worry about visions as they pertained to Dean. Though by this time, he could just about recite the lines in Cars without it being on.

He'd heard that they were getting ready to get rid of the clock, but Sam didn't know when, nor did he know how long it would take for things to revert. Which was why he was blindsided by the vision, the pain knocking him to his knees.

When it passed, he pushed himself up, stumbling to the main room. He grabbed a blanket from the couch, throwing it over his brother's still form on the floor, reaching out to check that he even still had a pulse and the aging hadn't stopped sometime during his four months of being dead.

Luckily, his body aged up so quickly that his heart only stopped for a beat or two. The time he was dead passing in an instant. As it was, his heartbeat stuttered before settling into a steady rhythm again. His breathing was slow and even in turn. However he was no shape to wake up or could.

Well, slow and steady was good. That meant Dean was mostly asleep. He frowned a moment, then shifted to pick his brother up. It was awkward as hell, honestly, but he could manage it. Dean would rest better in his own bed.

"Kinda wishing I'd put you down for a nap before this happened," he grunted, heading for the stairs.

Despite her shyness at her younger age, Cagalli had always has a knack for going wherever she wanted to. As a child she'd nearly gotten herself hurt quite a few times with improbable jaunts through government or even military facilities, her continued survival a testament to either luck or mad skills.

She'd managed to avoid any adults trying to keep an eye on her, and sneaked off to the bathhouse all on her own. Even at a young age, she had taken a liking to them, and she had memories from her time here as well. A lot of memories, I think like half her freaking threads here have been in the bathhouse. This is now a running joke. So she'd slipped into the mildest coed pool in a child's swimsuit...

Then she found herself... feeling very funny. She knew it was happening, but hadn't really been able to comprehend the sudden rush of intense pain as everything began stretching and growing improbably fast, all of her memories from before Stacy rushing in a whirlwind; all the people she'd lost, both close friends and the citizens of Orb. Speaking of running jokes...

And some time after she passed out (a few minutes or few hours, who knows?), water was splashed on her face.

"Wake up."

Probably closer to minutes - being unconscious for hours isn't healthy for the brain meats, it sure isn't.

Cagalli blinked and sputtered a little at the splashing looking around rapidly before quickly shutting her eyes as a headache overcomes her. "Agh! Ah... what... the clock?"

"That isn't something you need to worry about." He peered down closer at her from the edge pf the bath.

"Are you harmed?"

Signum wasn't even aware of the Melting Clock in principle. Still in hiding in a disused part of the city, the only things left on her mind were letting her wounds heal and heading out to try and complete...the...

Signum collapses from her sitting position as her memories come flooding back, her body's condition deteriorating slightly as her connection to the accursed thing she had so recently been enslaved to was severed in an instant of rushed time. Crouched on her hands and knees on the floor, her face is practically paralyzed into a horrified expression.

She had...she'd...she'd done it again. Her most horrifying of all her horrifying dishonors, and she'd blithely repeated it. Hurt people. Stolen. Attacked her best friends.

All for absolutely nothing.

Signum, alone in her hideout, collapses to the floor sobbing as much as she feels she can allow herself.

It had been just sheer luck that Vivio had passed by where Signum was hiding. She wasn't aware that the Clock had been destroyed, just that she had attacked a lot of people - Einhart included - and she wanted answers.

Entering the room, she stops nearby, an even expression on her face. "Why? Why did you attack Einhart-chan?!"

Signum looks up from the floor, blearily and obviously tear-streaked. "Vivio...where did you...? How long have I been...?"

She shakes her head, violently. "That's right, I...Einhart was one of the people I attacked. I was...something happened to my memory. It was a long time ago and I needed...I thought I needed..."

Still on all fours, Signum bashes her head into the floor once, focusing through her confusion, then rises to her knees.

"I did something terrible, Vivio."

"You took her magic." Vivio said, matter-of-factly. "You took other people's magic! You didn't need to! There was no need! You--!"

Tears began running down her face. She was so confused at the moment. She was still unaware of what happened just then and she was still angry over her dear friend being attacked.

The next thing Signum might see is Vivio transforming and swinging at her in anger and frustration. "WHY?!"

Marco and Rachel had been mucking about in Cassie's barn (hay was so much fun to jump around in!), when the returning time hit. In a matter of moments, Marco went from being five, to eight, to eleven, to thirteen and then finally settling on sixteen years old.

For a moment he didn't say anything. He just tried to breathe.

Once he'd manage to collect himself, he looked up at Rachel. Even though he'd just been talking to her moments ago, been living in the same house as her for months, somehow seeing her hit him like a kick to the gut.

He'd seen her die, but here she was still alive.

[[ooc: closed to Rachel, for when Cait eventually gets back!]]

Rachel groaned a little bit from the kind of disorienting feeling of going from being about four or five to suddenly over a decade older than that. The memories were mixed up for a brief second, but it started to fall back into place easy enough.

Until she noticed Marco looking at her.

"What's your problem?" she asked, pulling herself up and straightening herself out.

Marco blinked, then shook his head a little. He hadn't even realised he'd been staring.

"I'd say I was sad that you're back to your usual crazy self," Marco said casually, quickly covering up his sense of surprise at just seeing her alive, "But you were completely insane at four years old too."

Duo hadn't recognized this house the last time he'd snuck into it, planning on swiping food. He hadn't expected to meet someone who recognized him, either, but that was the only reason he hadn't come back here after that. He was too spooked by all these people who seemed to know him, and with the uneasy memories that had come with this particular encounter, he'd avoided this place the most, after that.

It was weird as an orphan, sneaking into a place that somewhere in the back of your mind registered as 'home'.

When Duo started reaging, the first few moments brought such a shock of pain to his system that he had doubled over where he'd been rooting around in an abandoned part of the City, gasping, tears streaming down his face.

Father... Sister...When he finally was to his senses enough to stumble back to Hilde's house (a good 7-8 years added to his stature), he was a moody mess, dark glower being tossed every which way as he stalked through the living room towards the back bedroom hall, heading for his room. There were still days ( ... )

Hilde had been worried about Duo ever since he had ran off. She had caught a kid sneaking into the house before, but he ran as soon as she called out to him. There wasn't a need to steal food from here, it was his as well. She knew that the kid she had seen had been him, he had the same hair and eyes.

"Duo?" she called out quietly as she looked out into the hall from her own room. She really didn't know what was going on, but she was there for him, like she had been before when he ran off. She knew that he would come back eventually.

Either that or she'd find him in the hangar with Deathscythe. She was going to give him a little bit more time before she went looking for him, but now he was home.

Duo was in his room, changing back into clothes that fit- one of the saving graces of the weird plant suits that Stacy had clothed them all in was that it had shrunk and grown along with him; but he still didn't feel right without a real pair of pants on. As he sifted through his closet, he glanced bitterly at the white turtleneck and black overshirt- the faux frock he had worn as the God of Death- before tossing on a pair of black jeans and his favorite leather jacket over his plantsuit.

"Yeah, it's me," he called back, an agitated tone to his voice. He didn't really mean to lash out at her, but his head was a complete jumble right now. He flopped onto his bed, dipping his head in his hands and running fingers through his bangs.

"I'm glad you're back," she said as she leaned against the doorframe of his room. She had missed him when he ran off, but she knew that he would be back. He always came back, she just never knew when. She also had no clue what went on while he was gone. There was a lot that went on on the ship that she didn't understand. She just went along with it and cotinued to do what she needed to do.

"Do you want to talk about what happened?" she asked. She wasn't going to push him. She could tell that something was bothering him.
