In Which The Overlord Is Moody [Open, Post-Council Meeting]

May 10, 2011 20:57

He'd said a lot of things at the Council meeting, of course. A lot of talk and enough action implied that he hoped he'd accomplished something, anything. It wasn't like Overlording, nowhere near as fun or as rewarding, but it had to be done ( Read more... )

That had been... interesting.

Allenby really wasn't one for long, dense discussions, which was what the Council meeting had turned out to be. But she'd come along anyway to see what it was all about, though she hadn't managed to say anything. It'd all seemed like a little much.

She was on her way to either the mess hall or the pod caverns to yell at Stacy (she hadn't decided yet) when she saw Zetta, still in that body and looking moody. "Hey, what's up?"

Zetta made a sort of a grunt that probably was intended as a hello.

"Sick of waiting," he muttered. "And pissed off about it."

Allenby looked in the direction that Zetta had been muttering in. "Yeah. It doesn't seem to do much good but I go down there anyhow to try and get this damn ship to release the right people." Mostly it involved yelling at Stacy and directly at the people in the pods.

"Oh I don't blame the freaking ship. This is all on Salome. I know she's down there!" he snarled in the direction of the tube. "How DARE she keep her Overlord and master waiting?!"

"Well how long'd it take you to get outta there?" Allenby put her hands on her hips, glaring up the tube. "I know my friends would just punch their way outta those pods if they were able. It's prob'ly the same thing for Salome."

"Got out... eight, nine months ago? I can't tell, this ship makes it all blur. The way I figure it, whatever yanks at souls in the Bleed must affect demon souls worse. Otherwise I wouldn't have ever been in there to begin with." Because he's Zetta, etc. "But now that I'm out? Salome's got no excuse."

"Well, do ya think you could use your demon powers to find whichever pod she's in and bust her outta there?" It was something Allenby had contemplated many times, but no matter how hard she looked there was no way she could tell who was in what pod. She didn't want to let out some mass-murderer by mistake.

"Yeah, sure, but that'd be pretty much declaring war on the ship. Which would end with everyone dead but me, because I can survive in the space between world." He said that so casually, too. "Probably not the best path to getting my Netherworld back."

"What--seriously?" That was both to the fact that it would be a declaration of war and Zetta's belief that he could survive the Bleed. Even with the flaming hair and swirling energy, he looked human enough that Allenby had a hard time picturing it. "Uh--yeah, I guess not then. What'd she do if you tried breaking one of those things open, anyway?"

They'd fought together, how was she still underestimating him?! "Probably tentacle-grab you, same as if you'd done anything else bad," he said. "If that didn't work, I don't know. I don't think it's never not worked yet."

Fighting him was like fighting a Gundam on foot, and she wouldn't have wanted to take her Gundam out into that stuff. "Guess it's a good thing I never gave into that urge. It'd just be embarrassin'..."

Another thought struck her. "Maybe Stacy figures just one demon's enough? I mean, you're pretty damn powerful. Could be she thinks two of ya'd be too much to handle."

"Well, then the ship's an idiot, because one Zetta is too much for the rest of the cosmos to handle!" he said, with a bit of his spark ignited again. "And you! Don't get Punished, Allenby. Nobody needs to see that crap again."

Now that was more like it. It was no fun seeing Zetta down in the dumps. "I believe it. Ya know, I'd like to meet this Salome if she's half as badass as you!"

But it turned a bit sheepish when he mentioned Punishment. Allenby had read up on the ship's rules in Leon's survival guide... after having already been on the ship for several months. "Heh, I already got myself a Violation for punchin' someone, but I'll try not to get anymore."

How successful she would be in that was doubtful. She had an unfortunate tendency not to notice rules and regulations.

"She's more than half! She's my disciple! You think I would teach anyone to be less than second-best?" Second-best because he would always be first, of course.

"Who'd you punch?" Zetta asked. Depending on who it was he may be more or less forgiving of her.

"Good point! Listen, if she pops out and one of my Gundam Fighter friends pops out, we oughta have a tag team match!" That would be just about the most fun anyone could have on the ship.

"It was that guy Setsuna--he's from one of the other Earths that has Gundams." Allenby felt like she needed to apologize for calling him and his Gundam trash, but she didn't regret hitting him for what he'd said. "He didn't fight back, though."

"Hmph. I don't know him, so he wasn't worth it," Zetta said. "We need people like you out and sane, Allenby, so if you get yourself Punished or stuck back in the pods I'll never forgive you!"
