Melting Clock: Quarantine

Apr 27, 2011 08:17

After Sam Henderson's announcement, the Contagion Containment and Treatment lab was going to get busy. Anyone suspected of being affected by the mysterious affliction would be brought here, and put into one of the large bubbles that would keep any potential contagious diseases in - and the patients themselves. Once in inside, they wouldn't be able ( Read more... )

He smiled, "I guess. With Ben Tennysen."

He nodded, "Is there anything I can do?" He wasn't really sure what he could do either. But if there was something he could do he would try.

Superboy nodded, he hadn't expected to like Kon. Nor had he expected to connect with him so quickly, especially after the flight incident. But seeing him like this, essentially helpless. Well... it was harrowing. It also made him see him for what he was, what they both were really, children. "You to."

He then turned and left the room, not exactly content but he didn't really have anything else to say. And he couldn't do anything for Kon except not worry him.

History seemed to enjoy repetition. Though the setting had changed, Kon was still being held up in a fancy, organic laboratory, and she could only stand by. It sucked.

Still, it didn't exactly prepare Tana for how much younger Kon had gotten. Closer to what she remembered, which she didn't mind (selfish as that was). "Hey, Kid," she greeted quietly, half-expecting a Jeka-like blow up. "I thought you could use a little company."

Less blow-upping, more Kon being a boneless pile of bored teenage boy in the bottom of his bubble. (Hey, that was a lot of alliteration there).

"You don't have to worry about me, Tana. Not like I've never had scientists and doctors making my genes dance the centrifuge Samba before. They'll put their giant heads together, figure out what this is, and I'll be fine before you know it, maybe even without being barely legal for ages this time."

There it was. The brave face. Isn't it familiar, Tana?

This entire situation had been the sort of insanity he had come to expect, after the Doctor had dropped out of the sky in his magic blue box and swept his fiance away for the first time. But really, it was different, in it's own way. It was one thing to meet insane aliens and defy the laws of everything on a daily basis. It was another thing entirely to try to treat them, and to not know how or why they were sick in the first place.

"Mr. Kent?" He crouched down so he wasn't towering over him. "How are you feeling?"

Definitely younger, even since he'd last seen him. Probably in his mid teens. He held back a sigh, trying to figure out what could have caused this sort of thing. Rewinding time, it just didn't make any sense. Not without a TARDIS or something to cause it.

"It's one of several on your file." There was a brief moment of quiet amusement. "Would you like to see? But Kon is fine too."

He studied the teen for a long moment, taking in the changes youth had brought about, even from when he'd first met him. "How's your arm, then? All healed up?" Metahumans, if that's what he was, were fascinatingly quick about healing. Once this situation was over, he was going to spend a fair amount of time just reading over files to try to figure out how that was even possible. Technology he couldn't take back with him, but knowledge? Knowledge he might be able to.

"I imagine most of humanity, a few alien species. It's rather low on most people's vacation destination lists. We'll figure it out, though. Just hang tight till then."

"Conner Kent, yeah. Must have been something you picked up later. It's not a bad name." He settled on the floor, legs crossed, still holding the data file up for Kon to peer at. "At least you seem to have temporally stabilized, for the moment. That's good."

He couldn't help but smile a little, hearing Amy's nickname echoed from someone who had never met her. "He's good at figuring these things out. Expert, like I said, if time travel has such things. We may also try Miranda's method, see if we can hold you in place for a little while. Anything that gives us more time to figure things out."

He frowned, lowering the file. "You look, what, sixteen maybe a little younger? More time than some have. What's bothering you?"
