It's the Hangar.

Okay, whatever, it's a hangar; close enough. And right now, in the Sensoriums at least, it's mostly empty. There are no ships docked inside, no land vehicles, no Engineering personnel wandering about tinkering with things. Which leaves quite a bit of empty space. It's actually kind of eerie how quiet everything is, actually.

After being introduced to the Valkyries, Zouichi is curious about those other modes. The fighter is something he's more familiar with; the other two are not, though he's beginning to understand how they have their uses.

He walks along the underside of the sleek VF-171, inspecting it from the outside, wondering what kind of circumstances would have required human engineers to create something like this. It had to have taken years, decades even, to perfect a transformable fighting craft. Two modes would have been an unmanageable nightmare. Three? All those components, not a one of which must be allowed to interfere with any others, even in vastly different configurations?

Zouichi leaps into the open cockpit, switching to GERWALK mode, experimenting with the fine motor control of the mechanical fingers, which might come in handy some day, if you pardon the pun. Then he tried out the reverse thrusters, bringing the craft left and right, trying out turns.

Battroid was really the least familiar for him; they didn't exactly have giant robots in general where he came from, but the mechs they did have weren't humanoid. Not like this, anyway. He brought out the Battroid's combat knife, inspecting it before trying out a thrust or two. It felt a little alien to be separated from the attack by a control system and several tons of engineered metal. But not necessarily in a bad way.
