Back to school?

I've been thinking very hard about going back to school and finishing my degree. I'm tired of being stuck in dead-end jobs that I hate, tired of trying to figure out if I can afford going to the dentist or the doctor, tired of feeling like I'm stretched too thin to help friends and family if they need it ( Read more... )

When I went back spring 06 I didn't really know what I wanted to do and it was PURE FUCKING HELL. I dragged myself to classes I thought were horrid and my grades reflected my ambivalence (not that grades are that important but they do reflect something) and it wasn't until last spring when I found out what I REALLY want to do that I got energized, started attending with enthusiasm and am really "feeling" it. If you're going to spend the money and make the sacrifice, I have to suggest you do something you really LOVE or else it's going to be as bad as your current situation.

Remember that going back to school doesn't have to mean attending a university full time. It can mean attending Cuesta part time, or for only one class. Cuesta is way cheaper than Poly. Poke around the catalouge at the cuesta website and take a class that seems like it might be interesting.

Even though I am someone who doesn't use my degree in my work, I feel safer knowing that I have it behind me if I ever need it.

Remember that you don't have to jump into the acid bath head first. You can always dip your toe in and see how much ( or little) it burns. :)
