I've been looking at aquarium set ups and at cats-needing-homes online lately. It makes me sad since I:
a) will never be able to afford the time/effort/monies to get an awesome fish set up.
b) am still terrified that I'm going to kill my GOLDFISH (it really doesn't get much more hardy than goldfish...)
c) will never be able to rescue all of the cats ( Read more... )

want, fish, pet, cat

I can't get a cat right now though ; __ ; If I leave the country after undergrad to teach English, she couldn't come with me...

I can't wait until I can afford a really big tank and fill it with plants and an angel fish or two and some pretty guppies :3

I had a cat up until a few years ago. She was mine, as well, although my mum helped me take care of her (since I was a lazy sot)

Goldfishies are one of the hardest things on the planet to keep alive and happy, so I'd say you are doing pretty darn well.
I hope like hell I can still come home for vacations wherever I go to school, because there's no way I could just say goodbye to Nigel for several years. I once knew a family that moved (for no apparent reason) every six to ten months and always collected two to three cats and dogs and several snakes and I think some birds one time and had to give them all away EVERY SINGLE TIME. I never understood it.
But if you know kitty would have a good home both with you and someone else and feel it's worth the separation to have cat now and later, I say CAT. <3cat. Make sure cat recipient knows what they are in for when you get cat in first place to avoid "thrusting" cat at anyone!
(thrusting... kitten... duct tape...)

Kyboshia, above you, has an awesome gorgeous fantail betta she takes great care of. They're lovely fish.

Also: dwarf puffers are adorable :3

Cats are oddly enough not too hard to take care of, (though remembering the litter box is there is stinky)Waiting would probably be a good idea. Once you had a kitty for 2 years, it'd be hard to give him up.

Logan seems to be doing well in our tiny apartment. I don't think cats would eat the fish if there was alid or something, but cats can be pretty determined.

Tigger didn't seem to care about the aquarium, back when we still had fish at my parent's house, but she scared the poor gerbils near to death.
I'm glad to hear that Logan's doing alright though- he probably gets lots of love, eh? ;)

Can't you foster a kitten? You don't get to keep them...

....THAT is a clever plan that I hadn't even thought to consider. NOT ONLY would I get to play with kittens and care for them and wuv and happy and care for neglected and achey-heart sad kittens, I wouldn't be tied to them, so once I moved, I'd move. I... might need to look into this.
