Now that tube-escalator looks like something worth waiting in line to ride on (and you didn't even need to, as it turns!).

Black, Red over Black on Red

Such an apt, intensely creative title. Seriously, wow. (No, not really, and least of all 'seriously' >:p).

I don't know who's the ... mastermind behind this line of balls.

I... kind of like it? Not the LET'S PUT IT RIGHT INTO THE VERSAILLES GARDENS WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA WOULD THAT BE kind of "like it", but still: kind of like it. ;p

The installation on the right side of this picture looks like something straight out of an Ikea catalogue (and it may very well be!).

Re: the Petit Palais: so much for "little"! On the contrary, I'd daresay it looks even more grandiose than the Grand item.

Re: the Hotel de Ville, t hey treat their administratives like royalty, up there in Paris. Bless the French Revolution indeed. #snerk :p

You can ride that escalator as often as you like. :)

Keeping Mark Rothko paintings apart is an art form itself. ;)

That's the nice thing about some of the modern art. It's sometimes very playful, or makes you smile. Which is never a bad thing.

That shelf is seriously at risk of becoming an "interactive" exhibit. Either by the visitors, or the cleaning staff. :)

Very true. Bigger often isn't better.

They have the buildings, so it's understandable that they put them to good use. :)

I think the people who designed the Beverly Center shopping mall in Los Angeles, which opened in 1981, were partly inspired by the Centre Pompidou, mostly for the elevators.
These are the ones on the East side of the building. There are mirror images of the escalators on the North side.

That definitely counts as an homage.

I hope you liked my Angel-A reference. :)

I watched the movie again before the trip. And I bought the BluRay when I was back home. :)
