Independent comedy about a small town that bands together to make an adult film. Jeff Bridges plays a guy dealing with a midlife crisis who hatches the scheme. The colourful cast includes Tim Blake Nelson, Joe Pantoliano, Ted Danson, Patrick Fugit, William Fichtner, Lauren Graham, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Glenne Headly. Amateurs is the US title Moguls the title in the UK (I'm sure there are valid reasons). Looks like fun, although I suppose we better not expect too much bare skin.

Mixing animation and live action, this drama follows the misadventures of Meryl, a woman who sees disaster everywhere. One day Meryl is witness to a real accident that connects her to the lives of others affected by the tragedy, among them Nick, a photographer emotionally inhibited by his own fears. As they tentatively attempt to connect, their story is shot through with humour, whimsical insight and compassion. The movie was nominated for practically all available prices in Australia last year and won a lot of them. Looks charming. Limited release in the US starting in April.

The latest experimental movie from performer Matthew Barney, best known for his Cremaster cycle. This is the first collaboration with this significant other Björk who acts in the movie and has also composed the music. The imdb description says: "The film concerns the theme of self-imposed limitation and continues Barney's interest in religious rite, this time focusing on Shinto." While I doubt that I will really like his movies I would nevertheless one day like to have the opportunity to watch them since especially the Cremaster movies look visually stunning.
