D-chan is one of the few cosplayers included in the back of the Avatar special edition Nick Mag. Yeah, he rocks...he's in the Table of Contents. Photo credits go to Jen (prismkitty). Here's some scans if you haven't already seen it!
No Aang at Youma, unfortunately...he sold that costume quite a while back. He decided the makeup was too much of a chore.
He'll be something from Bleach, but it's a surprise, so I can't say more than that. That is, if we magically get it all done before then. I'll cry if we don't.
*thinks* Ah so THIS is what Asuka was talking about! I was about to say that it was funny I recognized some of those shots from particular cons because I took one or two them ^_^.
Hi~! I was linked here via Doug's LJ. That adorable Aang is your son!? He is TOO CUTE! Congratulations, to the both of you! I overheard you mentioning at this past Ohayocon that he's started to sew his own costumes. Must be in the blood. ;D
As to the sewing...hey, gotta start 'em young, ya know? I started sewing when I was around 10 or so. He has his own machine (which he partly purchased with his holiday money...his idea). Currently he's working on his next cosplay...it's from Bleach. He's made his hakama almost all on his own with my instruction. We've documented it on film because he decided he wanted to make a web show on how to make hakama. LOL I hope to figure out how to edit video and make something of it and post it sometime in the future. Honestly, I was amazed on how well he did the pleats...I didn't have to adjust anything (at the waist...I did have to help smooth down to the hem a bit). We'll be working on the upper half tomorrow (well, the muslin at least) and hopefully finishing it by the weekend. He's still has another part of the costume to make too, which I think he'll need a bit more help with. Oh, but I just rambled on...sorry...
This boy was intent on doing his own costume, so I let him as much as he could manage. Actually, hakama aren't as hard as they seem...and chibi-hakama are much easier because not as much fabric to mess with. I'm thinking by the time he's a tween/teen, he'll be kickin' some major butt if he decides to compete. LOL And yes...endless patience is necessary when dealing with children and sewing. I can't even begin to explain!
I'll be sure to post linkies to videos when they're done. It'll be way after Ohayocon...too much stuff going on until then.

(Will he be Aang at Youmacon again? If so, I wonder if anyone would recognize him from the magazine. He could be a celebrity! ^_^)
