I apologize for any discrepancies regarding my summary of this episode and the actual episode. I watched it in a frenzy with Preston years ago and apparently only remembered the great parts and assumed that the few parts that were not great were not actually in the episode, though I do remember Cap'n Big Guy very clearly.
You are correct in thinking that there are no black pirates. Perhaps what the episode implies is that by going back in time, Urkel and the Big Guy changed history, and what we are seeing is actually a Mobius strip type of history that has already been changed by the events we are seeing. This is similar to La Jetee, which actually explains much of the final season of Urkel.
I can't believe I've never seen that episode. It reminds me of the one where Urkel and Carl turned into Bruce Lee with teribly offensive accents and squinty eves and beat up a bunch of would-be thieves in a warehouse. That one was tits!
