Redundancy and No'Duh

When I was in high school, I worked for a movie theatre. (It was a GREAT high school job, by the way.) One of the mangers was brilliant and funny and sarcastic. (A perfect personality, if you ask me.) When people asked, "Do you have a solid quarter?" He replied, "As oppossed to a liquid or gaseous one?" I wonder about the word ' virtual' or virtually'.

"And it's virtually pain-free."

Does it hurt or doesn't it hurt?

I know many people use this word when talking about something on the Internet. But then I have to ask, is it real or is it fake?

Depending on the context, that word can be vague. When I was taking journalism classes, they had a list of words that don't mean...well, anything. For example, "very" It was very good. Okay..uh...what does is that saying. I mean, REALLY saying?
