Someone(s) tried to shank you? Literally or figuratively?

No, no one has shanked me. I work at a prison now. I just joke about it. Officers are the ones at risk for a shanking. Offenders tend to like Mental Health. We're all warm and fuzzy...and we can get them on the list for meds.

You know, I actually had to go look that one up in the urban dictionary. Then again, I haven't been to prison. ;-)

:D Well, I have an 11 y/o client who knows what it means. You're just not "street" enough. For anyone who comes along...a shank is made out of ...well just about anything that can be fashioned into a knife. In prisons it is usually a piece of discarded metal or plastic fork. When someone cuts or stabs you with it, you "got shanked." Not sure of the origins of the word. Bogwitch may know...she's in to etiology. :D

Next week I will start seeing offenders. The possibility for shanking will increase. Kidding. I've already talked with a couple. I'm sure word is out on the yard that I am an easy mark to manipulate into breaking the rules. They will learn other wise.

I will try to post something about it on Tuesday. The show is Sunday and I won't get home until really late.

Have a good weekend!

"I made it through the metal detector two days in a row without setting it off." I grinned when reading this because I was at a conference site once where we had to show a badge and I kept doing it incorrectly so the alarm went off. The security guard women literally cheered when I finally did it right.

Have a wonderful shank-less weekend.

So, you get my grief. I've learned to wait to put on my watch and badge AFTER I walk through. And I have to use my arms to cover my underwire. So embarrassing.

Have a great weekend!
