Today's recovery day was much more active than I expected. Spent a part of the remnant GenCon money on a copy of Star Wars: Edge of the Empire. Went to the grocery. Saturday was a long one. One of the jagoffs that bailed on us was scheduled to work the booth with FI in the afternoon. I filled the spot, meaning that I was in the Exhibitor's Hall for eight hours. GenCon's official kickoff is at 8AM on Thursday. There are some events for those early risers, but the real start of the show is two hours later when the Exhibitors Hall opens up. People pack into the hallways outside the doors - thousands of people. There are some attendees who get to go in at 9AM by virtue of dropping big money on a "Very ( Read more... )

GenCon event registration opened today at noon. In less than 25 minutes, all of our events sold out. My own wish list worked out, getting me into three games - Deadlands: Hell on Earth, Mage: the Awakening, and Blue Planet. Friday, March 2, my fair Commonwealth was hit with an outbreak of severe weather. Heavy thunderstorms, high winds, and tornadoes. The town of West Liberty was hit very hard; a more appropriate description may be "devastated." Saturday afternoon, I went to a fundraiser at the Louisville Zoo. Lots of food from local restaurants and producers, wineries, micro- and craft breweries. I don't drink beers and ales, and don't like most locally-produced wines, so I was able to get away with the less-expensive ticket.
