I had some problems with The Force Awakens, but the things the movie did right, it did so well that I can forgive the failures. I loved the new characters - Rey, Poe, Finn, Hux. Kylo Ren's no Vader, but he's sufficiently villainous.-

I thought Kylo Ren was great *because* he's no Vader.

I think I'm going to come around to that opinion.

Kylo reminds me of banal, small-town evil. He lashes out just to hurt someone - no greater purpose as often as not. He's certainly powerful, but darned if he can't be just petty.

He saw someone awesome and evil, and he wants to be that person, but certainly lacks the control and the things that forged them into what they were.
