The camera's mic just doesn't to justice to the slightly off key notes that it plays... and seems to cut the harshness of it too. :P

yeah, same... like the Atari Star Wars theme at the beginning of the "Tai" cd of UNKLEsounds "Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats". (thanks AGAIN for introducing me to that set of mixes.

I would imagine that you'd be able to find it in a huge city like SF. I know there's a few sites online that sell it too.

Not so much an off switch as it only plays two snippits of songs then stops. About 30 seconds in total.

Pretty much. The gap between songs is enough time to make you think "Thank GOD that's over". Then it kicks in for the second round.
