Yesterday I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, as they say. I was in an entirely misanthropic mood that only barely lightened as the hours passed. Fortunately, Ian slept in late, and then nearly immediately took off for his volunteer hours at the Dumb Friends League, so his exposure to my grumpiness was minimal. To support your theory, Jon and Arya are noted to look like each other, and it has been mentioned that Arya favors her aunt.

The theory that Jon is the child of Lyanna and Rhaegar is a pretty common one, has been since- oh, book 3 or so? And it just seems to keep getting more weight/evidence.

Yes, there is definitely Something about Jon's parentage, and I am also pretty sure it works down to Lyanna. Rhaegar also makes some sense..

Ned said to King Robert that Jon's mom's name was Wylla. We meet a Wylla in book 5 don't we?
Now I have to go back and look it up.
But still, Ned fooling around on Caitlin doesn't ring true to me.
I agree with you, its a cover story. And it does seem likely that Ned does it to keep his sister's son safe, after all that happened to the Targaryens..
