Feeling normal again for a bit

1. No news to report on the job search front.

2. Just started reading Christopher Moore's latest novel, Bite Me: A Love Story. I'm only a few chapters into it, but this promises good things! It's all Abby Normal and Chet the 60-pound vampire cat, and the Emperor of San Francisco and his troops so far. This is gonna be good, I can tell ( Read more... )

That's good information. I'm surprised about your bills -- however, the benefit of never running out of hot water is in itself totally awesome.

We looked into it. Apparently because we are built on a slab that in order to retrofit it would be enormously expensive because they would have to go into the concrete.

Built on a slab... as opposed to what? Don't all modern houses have a concrete foundation?

As opposed to having crawl space or a basement. It means the house literally sits directly on the foundation.

Oh, okay - I guess that makes sense to me. I was thinking that if it had a basement, modern houses still have concrete floors under the basement... but DUH. They probably wouldn't need to drill into it then. Ah-ha!

My house in Massachusetts had a DIRT floor in the basement! Very creepy.
