Annual Music Collection Crash

ARGH! It seems that no matter what system of organization I choose for my electronic music collection, I suffer an annual crash and have to rebuild it. This year's crash is thanks to the recent plague among our computer monitors. When one of Ian's monitors died, I offered to let him use my second one since I depend on it less than he does. No, to be clear, all my files are still there -- it's just my means of organizing them in Winamp that was zorched -- ratings, playlists, and so forth. Without those things, the music itself is just a big jumble... or was, before I started the cleanup.

I take it you don't regularly back up the files that hold that organziation?

No -- it's in the bowels of Winamp, somehow. Winamp holds the ratings and the playlists (which, truthfully, still exist on my iPod, so I can rebuild them -- just gotta do it).

I'll ask Ian about figuring out how to back this stuff up - thanks!
