Dinner With the Hobbits
Last night I spoke these words to Ian:

"Honey, it sure is a good thing I like you so much, otherwise I might drop you and marry this corn instead."

Your comment about the corn cracked me up! Last night while at Julie's for dinner I asked her if she thought Dan would consider a polygamous marriage if the third party were a baked potato. Maybe you & I can have a joint ceremony where we each marry the food of our choice? ;)

As for your mashed potatoes, I usually just quarter my potatoes, and make sure you're not overboiling them. They will start to disentegrated if you do that. I'm always suprprised that potatoes take less time than I think they should.

I more or less quarter them as well, unless it's a really big potato, then it's drawn and quartered. Err.. I mean, cut in a few more pieces.

I want to say that my Mom cuts the potatoes only in half when she is making mashed potatoes from scratch... if even that! She may leave them whole. I'll call her in a little bit to ask, and let you know (since she is sleeping right now, due to working nights). :)
