Q.E.D., being a grown-up, living deliberately green, Mark Twain, vampires, mummies & the Holy Ghost

Had some interesting breakthroughs this weekend, particularly interesting those which steered away from being breakdowns.

One of my New Year's Resolutions for this year is: Act in a manner consistent with the results I want to achieve: love for love, respect for respect, humor for humor. Or in other words, "Stop acting like an asshole, thus ( Read more... )

My RL brother (http://www.panix.com/~genie/) works for Simultronics (play.net) in St. Charles, MO. He's a pretty hot coder/programmer/network/internet guy. I don't know if that's Ian's gig but I thought I'd practice a bit of networking.

Thank you! I appreciate the hookup.

Ian's going into videogame art. Never hurts to have friends out there in the network, though!

I did find, back when I still had my truck, that keeping my speed around 60 to 65 made an appreciable difference in my gas mileage. One of the things the husband and I are really looking forward to in moving to the country is living a little more green...having a compost pile, growing and canning some of our own food, etc ( ... )

I thought you'd find the article and especially that chart interesting. Just a different sort of perspective for me on those numbers, and locations of them.

Thanks for giving it a look!

I liken it, actually, to say Ravenholt v. Madrigal

hahaha!!! Hey, at least some of us appreciate the metaphor. And I for one am all about mixing in more lowbrow and just plain stoopid fun, cos it's all a lot less stressful on everybody. Well, okay, so there's not a lot of "guy in a dress guy" kind of elements, but even so.

Plus I would really like to see Wanted.

STATES' RIGHTS!!! Oh wait. I'm only ever with that 'til it screws with things I consider to be civil rights and stuff. War coulda been handled a bit better, however, to say the least.

Well, that certainly ties a nice little bow around 180 years of American history, "War coulda been handled a bit better." Yep.

I think the Late Unpleasantness still rings solid because Southerners (with a capital S because I identify myself among them) have, since the early days of the colony, identified themselves differently than other Americans. There was once a day when Yankee meant that you were from New England, and, depending on your perspective, still has a north-eastern focus ( ... )

That may be the most elegant explanation I've read of all included subjects. Well done! You are clearly a man of deep thoughts -- thank you for sharing them here!

Aw, shucks. I appreciate it. It isn't often that I get to wax prosaically about things like this. Thanks for giving me an opening. ;P
