I just got off the phone with the Business Department head at my college. He was patient, listened to my story. His immediate reaction was to say that the professor's remarks were inappropriate, and he understood why I was so shocked. Without me having to make any request, he said that he'd ask the professor about it, mention no names, keep it anonymous, and just talk it out with him casually.

The department head did tell me that the professor gets good reviews from students, and I was glad to hear that.

I feel a huge weight lifted on my shoulders after that talk. I feel like I did the right thing.
