What's the dickest thing you ever did or said to a service/retail person? In hindsight, was it fully deserved or was something else playing into your actions?

For those of you who've worked in service/retail, what's the dickest thing you've ever done/said to a customer? Was it fully deserved?

Today I took a cel phone call while I was being rung up at the post office. I hate it when people do that, but I thought it was work related (it ended up being some auto dealer looking to sell me a car)

I've never said anything rude to a salesperson, as far as I can remember. I even listen to a telemarketer's whole speech before I tell them I'm not interested. I tend to have a lot of patience in this area.

As for customers, I've come off as having an attitude but only if they're being rude first. I've never said anything unprofessional.

You're actually not doing them any favours by listening to the whole spiel. Wasting their time, getting their hopes up, sending their numbers down etc. Maybe just politely cut them off at the get-go, and hang up!

I didn't think I was doing them any favors. They talk a mile a minute and I'd rather wait the 30 seconds for them to finish than to interrupt someone when they're talking.

But I'll keep what you said in mind.

I work in a call centre on a contract dealing with ATT Wireless customers. And I'm not just saying this to praise myself up, but honestly? I can take a hell of a lot of abuse from customers. It kind of goes with the job ( ... )

What a horrible, horrible person. I would NOT stand that for 45 mins, I don't think I could stay quiet. You shouldn't have to put up with that!! There should be an abuse limit or something :(

nothing against you personally, but I can't stand this "customer is always right" "take the abuse with a smile" bullshit bullshit we have going on these days. assholes like this will get away with their behavior and in fact often be rewarded for it too. somehow they have to learn it isn't okay to treat people like this.
