I heard a program on the radio today, and twice in the same program the inaccuracy of people explaining something specific made me cringe

Also, the 'electric vampire' things is so misleading. It draw so little power that you probably wouldn't even notice a change, yet they bundle things together, compound it over a single year and make it seem like that what you'll save in a month. This will only lead to more frustration over energy conservation, by people not understanding simple statistics.
Realistically a AC unit draws the majority of a household's power.. instead of unplugging your TV, make a better AC or just turn it off.
very true about AC! I drives me crazy how many restaurants around here crank up the AC to full blast when it's actually nice outside.
the vampire power thing is big enough to make a difference such that if appliance manufacturers made better designs it would save about $3B in energy costs in the US annually. That's not insignificant. For households/individuals, it constitutes about 5% of energy consumption. 5% doesn't sound like very much, but it does when applied to completely non-related situations such as "amount of wages garnished" or "amount of one's body covered in 3rd degree burns".
Older refrigerators and black rooftops are more things that irk me in this regard. I could probably rant for a long time about all this :P
werd, (on facts and stuff) i don't really know the numbers she saying i assume there like un-realistic numbers or something.. but i don't believe things in less i have legit sources especially if it comes from word of mouth.
