Nobel literature head: US too insular to compete - Boston.com

Whom would you suggest be added to the Nobel Prize commission's reading list? I have included a link to the collection of Noel prize winners in lit from 1903 on-http://nobelprizes.com/nobel/literature/

In addition, is the criticism valid?

Given the aesthetic of the award winners, I have no useful suggestions. I did not enjoy Sartre, and I have not read any of the others. My guess is that they are inexpressably snobby.

Who knows whether the criticism is valid? We still seem to be winning nobel prizes in Economics, so I don't think that the U.S. is categorically unable to compete. We do tend to have a great deal of pop culture in our media, but then, so did Oscar Wilde.
