All the more reason to have more game nights, more times going out to dinner, and more social interactio.... errr, I mean, I'll call ya and tell ya the ending. :P
Yeah, internet social sites are definitely not an EXCUSE to just not bother getting in touch with everyone you want to know things personally... Stuff like facebook makes certain communication easier and kind of "one-stop-shopping"-y, but it's not really a good replacement for just dropping a line (even by direct email, if not able/willing to discuss by phone or in person!) to everyone you want to invite/inform about things. ESPECIALLY if you know that some friends still aren't willing to jump on the fb bandwagon, etc.
Now, as far as my personal involvement in this discussion? I'm normally just distant because of circumstances, busy-ness, and/or... er... well, ACTUAL distance. So a lot of the time, it's very convenient to be able to check in on everyone in the same place. But I'm not naive enough to try to get the internets to do all of my socializing FOR me if I have important stuff going on
