May 1, 2006: Call to Action!
"El Gran Paro Americano 2006" "The Great American Boycott 2006"
"Un dia sin immigrante" "A day without an immigrant"

They are calling for No Sales and No Buying of any commercial goods. No gas, no fast food, no American products that use so many illegal immigrants as workers.
We have to show this administration that ( Read more... )

Most of us or our ancestors migrated to this country in search of a better life so why would we deny the same to these people!

My sentiments exactly! I couldn't agree with you more. People are really pissing me off. Did you see my opinion I posted about the Spanish version of our National Anthem? I'll just enter it here so you can read it.

The Spanish Anthem. Personally, I see no problem with it. People need to calm the fuck down. It's not like it's going to replace the English version. I see nothing wrong with having a song express the "American Dream" to Spanish people immigrating to this country. (If they only knew how fucked up our Government was, they might just decide to stay put.) But seriously, where's the problem? I think they should learn to speak English since it is the common language in this country. But why not have a song that they understand and can feel a little bit of patriotism and hope for a new life in a better country? It's not like this country was founded with the English language. I'm pretty sure the ( ... )

I'm glad you feel this way, it's good to see an American believe that people have the right to live in this country.

I'm actually not familiar with the Spanish Anthem debate, but I'll check it out.
I really like your opinion about the anthem, and I agree with it as well. I feel like everyone should try to learn English just because it would make it easier for them to work but sometimes we as Americans don't want to understand people and judge too soon.

I agree with you again, I feel like no one owns this country or any country, there are laws to follow but come on now, people need to chill.

I think everyone should be allowed to come here, but they should follow a process. It's not fair to the millions of people that want to be here but can't and are following the rules, but someone jumps across a fence in the middle of the night and we give them the world.

They get taken care of better than American citizen's. I know you didn't ask for my opinion but it's on my friends page so..

Opinion's are great and I would love for everyone to share them.
I respect your opinion and I'm not saying we should allow every single person to become a legal citizen of this country but we should allow illegal immigrants who have been here a long time to be able to apply for citizenship after they undergo a background check to make sure they aren't criminals.
I don't see what's so wrong in letting people who have been here for years and have families here pay taxes just like everyone else, feel safe when they go to work and have a normal life.

How are they being taken care of better than American citizens?
Cubans in Miami get treated like crap, Mexicans in California get harassed all the time. I don't see any special treatment from anyone for these people.
Thanks for reading and sharing. :)

They can be treated in hospitals for free because government agents aren't allowed to go to hospitals. They just provide a fake name or whatever, fake ID, whatever they have. I get charged $350 for 2 minutes with a doctor because I don't have insurance.

I don't know any, but I don't know why they wouldn't feel safe, thosands of them can march on the streets and wave Mexican flags (why not American flags?) and not worry about being sent back.

Good luck with your boycott, I'm interested in seeing how it goes.

This is not my personal boycott, this was a post to share with you guys what thousands of people are trying to do tomorrow and I'm going to join them.
I understand what you mean, I get charged a lot of money for a doctor's visit as well....so, if some of these illegal immigrants become legal, they are going to have to pay just like everyone else.
Illegal immigrants are not safe in this country, they are constantly being told they can be seperated from their families here in the US and sent back home.
Just because someone waves a flag of a different country, it does not mean they aren't patriotic about being in the US.
