I'm currently at a rest stop taking a break from my long drive back to Georgia.

You can always just wait it out if you're worried. The rest stop is probably a good place to be, a lot better than waiting it out on the side of the road.

Up here in snowy/icy New England, most accidents are not caused by the initial skid, they're caused by somebody jerking the wheel in the opposite direction of a skid, overcorrecting, and then having an accident.
If you do start to skid, let up on the gas and don't immediately wrench the wheel the opposite way They say to steer into a skid, but it's more like just not trying to immediately steer in the opposite direction.
If it makes you feel any better, I have to drive in ice and snow all the time and I hate it :/
