That, my friend, is a HAMBURG MEAL! I got it at this place in Cambridge called Cafe Mami. There is this building w/several Japanese eateries in it along w/a Japanese market and bakery. It's the closest thing to Japantown we have in Boston. The hamburg meal can be made w/several different sauces and I tried the standard tomato one b/c I have never had any of them. It came w/rice and miso soup and it was SPLENDID. I want to go back to try all the other flavors! My friend had the one w/ponzu sauce which is some sort of citrus infused soy sauce. After that we went to the bakery and got curry pans, an pans (w/red bean paste) and an doughnuts. I also want to eat at the other places in that building. It's kind of a trek for me but so worth it!!! God, I love food.
Seems that B-Town suffers from the same problem Toronto does: We lack any real Japantown.
Anyhoo... I like this Hamburg Meal, I must try it if I ever come across an equivalent. And nothing classes up a meal like a bowl of rice and miso soup, even if the pairing seems incongruous. Now excuse me while I jizz in my pants.
