The screaming woke Eridan with a jolt. He had explored the tower a little, but the strange ways people were acting - walking in step, or acting so paranoid he could feel it in the back of his throat, jumping at things that weren't there, or just laying there in a palpable cloud of gloom.

This tower was full of lunatics, and his roommate was one of them.

He sat up and got quickly to his feet, breath coming fast and panicked. One of the monsters Taiki could summon was comforting him, while the other disappeared out the door, and Taiki seemed inconsolable. "Wwhat? Wwhat is it?"

Taiki stared at his roomate, he would kill him now. Now that Taiki was completely helpless, what if it had been a trick to get Gohran away...

He flinched away but compared to the others Eridan wasn't acting weird, he smelt normal, or as normal as he had when he arrived... "I don't want to kill them..." He sobbed again and trembled, "They have to die... I can't... they will hurt me if I don't..."

He started sobbing in earnest again, words beyond me as he struggled with the two urges, to kill and to never kill.

Eridan had no idea what to think of what Taiki was saying. He stepped closer nervously, side-eyeing the monster that protected him, and knelt down beside the crying child.

And child he was, he was sure of it. That much he had concluded after living with the weird, paranoid, frightened kirin over the last couple of days.

"Evven if there's something so dire that needs to be done, wwhy do you havve to be the one to do it?" he asked gently.

"Because..." Why did it have to be him. He couldn't physically hurt people... but... they would all kill everyone and...

He sobbed more as the two compulsions waged war with one another, "Something is making me," he gasped out, because if he didn't want to kill them and it was fighting against his Kirin nature that much.

"They have to die..." Sanshi stroked his hair and met Eidan's eyes.

"This tower will kill him. He cannot stay here." Her voice was calm but the paranoia had taken hold of her too, this tower was trying to kill her Kirin.
