Summary: Signless woke up with a leash on. He's going to find out where it goes, and run into shenanigans on the way.

Meanwhile, Romano is sitting by the pool on the seventh floor, dipping his feet into the cold water. He'd wondered about the leash appearing on his neck earlier, but when he found it disappearing into a wall, he gave up. Probably just a trick the tower workers had chocked up.

And for some reason or another, Romano had woken up with a niggling annoyance clawing the back of his mind, the emotion growing over time, even. That's why he was here, by the pool, to try and ease his mind a little. Sure had a rep for being constantly bitchy, but this was just different.

Signless was also finding it especially irritating, like an itch in his mind that he couldn't get rid of. He kept running into walls, but the leash was trending down, and once he got to the staircase it was almost straight down until he reached the 7th floor.

Then he could easily follow it with his eyes, right to a hornless alien sitting by the pool. The hornless alien didn't look like much of a threat - in fact, the leash was attached to ITS collar, too, rather than being held in its hand. So maybe they were both victims here.

"Hey," he said, struggling to control his temper as he marched up to Romano. "What's the deal with this?"

Romano turned to see one of those troll things, just like the others except much taller. Visibly, the nation paled at the sight and the tone he was addressed with, before looking down at the shortening distance between them where the leash hung.

It occurred to him that this scary monster might be angry at him for whatever this situation is, and he didn't want to die for it.

"I didn't do this, I swear! I just woke up and that chain or leash or whatever was there like that!" This would be the point in the surrendering where he'd claim he had family in the other's country to earn sympathy or mercy, but he was pretty sure he wasn't related to any trolls. That lie wouldn't get him very far.

Signless felt a strange rush of nervousness as the alien looked at him, but he was distracted by the sight of the way he paled, growing even more pasty and less pink than before. It didn't look healthy at all.

The sight of it calmed him considerably, and he recalled that he was supposed to be the troll messiah of calm and non-violence.

"Yeah, I figured that out, eventually." He offered Romano a sheepish smile - which given the sharp teeth he had might not be that reassuring - and hunkered down near him. "So what do you think is the point?"

[Kanaya will be walking down the hall, following her own tether to some stairs and eventually down to the first floor, but she stops when she sees Signless.]

[But she doesn't say anything, just looks at him.]

[She wonders if this is the one Disciple and Psiioniic had told her about, and she wonders if he would also call her Dolorosa. She also wonders if she should leave before he sees her, from the little she knows about his relationship with Dolorosa, maybe it would be better if he didn't see her.]

[He senses her regard almost subconsciously and turns to face her, his eyes widening the moment he sees her. His mouth opens, perhaps to say 'Dolorosa?', but he pauses, remembering Terezi and Vriska. This troll looks like she's about the same age.

Still, his expression softens as he walks towards her]

Hey there.

[Oh, whew, no Dolorosa flashes just yet.]

Hello. Have you just recently arrived?

I got here, yesterday. [A beat, almost nervous. This is a lot weirder than meeting Redglare's descendent] You can call me Signless... what's your name?

[discipleo]

[At some point, Disciple dragged out her little pots of paint from the trunk the rest of her things had been stashed in. A fur draped over her shoulder and a muted shade in hand, she had begun to paint his words on the wall on the first dorm floor. It was one of his simpler messages and she took a step back to read it over]

...That's right I think. [She shook her head] Harder to remember now.

[Signless had been searching the tower from top to bottom ever since Kanaya told him that Disciple was here. He found her name on her room, but she wasn't there. The only thing he hadn't done yet that he thought might be a good idea was explore the forest, though he was seriously considering it.

On his way back to grab Psiioniic, just in case anything bad happened, his nose caught the smell of paint.

He whirled and started down the hall towards her. Oh fuck, what was she doing?]

Di!

[ Disciple stopped midstroke of her finger and shook her head. Now she was hearing voices. First this strange place and their worlds destruction and now she'd finally snapped and started hearing his voice.

But she couldn't not turn around. ]

S....Signless. I'm hearing voices and seeing things. Yup a sweep in the caves did finally make me snap.

Nope. [He is smiling, but almost sadly] I'm really here, Di. You haven't snapped yet.

[He moves quickly towards her and raises a hand gently to her cheek]

[Karkat wasn't interested in finding out what was on the other end of his leash. With his experiences in this tower, it was probably nothing good.

But one thing Karkat is sick of seeing is other versions of himself, so when he rounds the corner to see Signless, he just kind of...stands there and stares.]

[Signless sees Karkat almost at the same moment Karkat sees him. He pauses, then grins and strolls towards him]

Let me guess, you're Karkat.

[romcomedian]

[Karkat doesn't give any sign of warmth in return, or even shock. An adult? He didn't look anything like he would have imagined him, which only meant one thing.

This was the other Karkat. Somehow, that only aggravates him more.]

Come up with that all by yourself?

[benigncancer]

Terezi mentioned you. [He folds his arms and looks him up and down, smirking] You look about as dorky as I did at six. [Except...] What's with the eye?

[ the twins are ignoring their leash. for now. it's not entirely important to them. an extra set of emotions don't even really register either. they already bounce back and forth between one another as one single entity. Adding one more isn't too much to contend with in the end. it's more like background noise.

let's see how long that lasts.

either way, dealing with Sollux has given them enough to be curious about one thing. computers. it's different from the machines and engines that they work with, so they want to get familiar with this contraption too.

hence why they are at the lab, poking and prodding at the hardware. ]

[Signless is still exploring, when he spots two trolls who look a lot like Psiioniic.

Two. Give him a fucking break]
