Charlie made her way to Section 1.

She had gone through and tried to evacuate everyone she thought should get out. She had spent quite some time coordinating, making sure everyone got where they needed to go, salvaging supplies from the gardens of the bottom five or so levels. And just when she had hoped it might all have been for naught, just when she hoped she could return to that little bed that, at least for now was her own, she ran into fast moving water in the stairwell.

So she was definitely staying in Jack's room, if he still wanted her to.

The slightly damp Charlie--whether from sweat or spray from the flood, she was too angry to know or care--emerged onto the housing level on Section one. She made her way over to room 8--it was 8, wasn't it?--and knocked.

And she stood there, waiting, her long hair tied back and weighted down with perspiration, her face wilted, makeup running slightly.

She did everything she was supposed to do. She'd evacuated more people than this before. So why did she feel so tired?

Charlie just nodded. She'd prettymuch decided the same thing.

But at the mention of Cobweb, she frowned. "Cobweb was raped, and is pregnant. And the people he was with before here are just awful and don't know how to treat a person after that kind of thing happens." Charlie growls, but then calms. "Don't run around shouting it to the rooftops or anythig, though. Don't wanna make him uncomfortable. I'm gonna try to be there for him."

Jack's eyes darkened. There were very few things that brought out the look on his face right now. A learned person would have knows the name for it:sakkai. It was the look of the warrior when all pleasantries were laid bare, aside, so that the act itself was now upon his mind. The defeat of the enemy. Or the eventual demise of a despised one.

"An act like that should leave the perpetrator unable to commit such an act again. One like me can never condone something so vile as the taking of one's innocence. Those that would spurn such a person are no better than that person. Truly our worlds can be quite cruel."

Jack nodded. 'It is not my story to tell."

Charlie nods grimly herself, tired out of her anger for the moment. "If I ever see the guy who did it to him, he's either locked up for life or dead, depending on whether I've got my morpher with me or not." She growled. "And if I ever meet his lover? Punch in the face, for never asking Cobweb if he was okay. Disgusting."

Jack nodded. "I usually do not think it good to contemplate the death of a person, but sometimes certain situations demand it, to prevent a similar act from happening. Although I do not have a morpher, I would only need to meet this person, and he would be at my mercy. I doubt I would need the sword for his kind of evil."

Jack looked perplexed. "A man...with another man? Such things...I have certainly never seen in my time. It seems I still have very much to learn, even in THIS world."

Charlie smiled at Jack. How adorably idealistic.

"They're not men, or at least, not Cobweb." She shook her head. "Not woman, either. And even if they were two men, that's not uncommon in my world. Not really accepted, either, but not uncommon."

The Samurai looked even more confused. "I see...he really must be from a different world. Even in my world, men and women exist, alongside robots and stranger looking creatures. Not accepted...hmm. There is much I do not understand about many people's worlds. I suppose the closest I have in my world would be a peasant or a foreigner marrying royalty. Such a thing is unthinkable."

Charlie nods. "That used to be unthinkable in my world too. But the tide is changing. The nation I lived in... didn't have a king or a queen or any princes. Rulers were chosen by the people, for short periods of time. Everyone was equal." Charlie shrugs. "I come from a... very different world. And so does Cobweb."

Jack took this in. It was hard to think of ordinary people fending for themselves. There were always so varied, and all it took was one vicious person to make many scared. Jack had seen this firsthand. Perhaps in Charlie's world, things were starting to get better, to progress? That was certainly a comfort.

"I would very much like to see a world where people attempt to coexist with each other. As for Cobweb, I wish him(?) the best."

Charlie smiled. And then she nodded. "I'm sure... if we all treat him like a person... that in the end he'll be okay. He seems strong, emotionally."

Jack looked thoughtful. "I don't see why I would not treat him like a person. I have treated those I hate with that much respect. I do not understand why others would have chosen to treat him so coldly. It doesn't seem to have any purpose."

Jack looked back at Charlie, and gave her a smile. "We can always look after him, but I doubt he will run into the problems he had in his world."

Charlie nods. "I don't think any of us will. There aren't enough people here for anyone to look down their nose at everyone else," she said with a grin. "It'd be too lonely if everyone just ignored people they wouldn't normally think of as people."

She paused. "And if anyone gives him or any of the other innocents any trouble... well, I'll take care of it."

Jack agreed. "There is only one person I have met so far who would deem, someone inferior to her. But she was not at all a pleasant woman. I may have to teach her a lesson in time, but I hope that can be avoided."

Jack nodded. "Just try not to spread yourself too think, Charlie."

"That Balbero? I was reading people's blogs." Charlie nodded. "She seems crazy. I didn't even try to bust her out."

But then she grinned wide, a playful glint in her eyes. "And don't worry about me, Jack. I'm in charge of protecting a whole planet, remember? 20 people will be a piece of cake."

Jack's eyes darkened a little at the mention of her name. "Yes. Her. She was bothering tow young men when I met her. I would have bested her with the sword, but she is strong. I see why she maintains her arrogance."

Jack chuckled. "You must live on a very small planet. For someone like me, doing that would be quite an arduous thing. There are many enemies I have battled, and many bounty hunters I've had to avoid. The demon who sought my defeat was very adamant that I be destroyed."

Charlie nods. She had read the blogs, after all.

"Earth is pretty small, but we have technology. And I've got an army. Sort of. But my team and me, the five of us and Manx, Cruger, and Boom, we basically saved the world by ourselves." Charlie grins. Balbero isn't the only arrogant one.
