[Translation] Myojo 0908 Shige -Aoi Hitorigoto- Vol. 38

Jun 28, 2009 20:02

He talks about his stage play and there's a more serious tone than usual. Even seasoned idol gets nervous LOL
I hope has he learned more about acting from 'SEMINAR' and I am looking forward to his SP drama later this year :)

Vol. 38 -Stage-

It's 20th May Wednesday, 17:45 right now. By the time this Myojo issue is out, my stage play would be ending its run but I'm working right now on 'SEMINAR' where I'm playing the lead for the first time. There will be 2 shows today. Since the the opening day, 4 shows have been done. In another hour and 15 minutes, the 5th show will start and I started to write this right at this time.

The title this time is "stage". There's a small episode behind this. About 1 year ago, when I was having writer's block for the content of this series I had a discussion with Myojo's staff about the next title.

"Instead of giving a title according to the content, I'd like to try and see what kind of essay I can write by coming up with the title first. Something like "Wow I can write this with such a title!" I want to test myself."
I said it in a carried-away-with-myself manner. And the staff said this.
"For example?"
I answered with a kanji word that struck me in a moment of inspiration.
"Some thing like 'Stage'!!"
I remember the atmosphere becoming more lively with that one word I said while having the look of a playful child.

Well, at that time the title 'Stage' was not used in the end (or rather I couldn't write anything on it...) but now, something perfect for this title that was almost put aside permanently has happened.

I thought I wouldn't be nervous at all but on the opening day of the play, I got so nervous that my hands were trembling when it was about to start. I was totally restless and chanted my character's name while I was waiting at the side of the stage with the other co-actors. "I'm Loren, I'm Loren." I was trying to get into character by doing this. Then, Nakamura (Rinya)-kun who was also waiting with me said this.
"It's okay. Once we get on 'stage' we're stars. Hahaha"
He said that jokingly as he tried to encourage me and I went on "stage" just like that.

"Ita". (Note: The Japanese kanji's pronunciation) Stage, in other words. 'Stage', that place where I might have spent the longest time on while at work, was the title that I thought I couldn't write about. At our senpai's concerts, our own concerts, my one-man show last year, even for TV recordings, we are always standing on 'stage'. But even such things will happen. That what you thought was impossible might just be closer to you than anything else, can it get any more ironic? Well look, I'm already near the word limit of my page when I still have lots to write about.

I have no intention of talking shamelessly about my theory on acting or charm of the stage. I'm still too insignificant a person to be talking about it. What I can say is that I don't hate it there. No, I'm not the one on 'stage'. It's actually the 'Kato Shigeaki' that I've created. I guess I don't hate that guy. I hate that guy but I also like him. I still don't understand that guy and I want to see more of him. In order to do that I will go on stage again.

Everyone, he's still the newbie who was given a chance to act in his first stage play and he's still just a kid but I hope you'll watch over him until his acting or performance makes it to the 'stage'. Well, my time's up and I have to go for the performance now.

I'm sorry for not replying to comments on the translations but I really don't know what to say except that I agree or thank you... Thanks for leaving comments even though you weren't asked to ^^ It's nice to see there are fellow fans of the under-promoted self-deprecating born-again elite.

shige, translation, myojo
