Yeah, I got pretty misty-eyed throughout the movie.
Now I want to read it. But seriously, i think THAT'S what was missing from the movie....I wanted a sort of epilogue or something...some kind of closure. I just feel so....left off.
I loved the movie and the book to pieces, but oh, it was so sad. ;_;
I think I actually like the film better because it's told more from Chris' point of view and that of his family's, which makes it a lot more emotional. The book reads from a third-person perspective (that of the author, who is a writer for a magazine), so it's more of an outsider's experience. It's still a great read, and it's interesting if you want to know more about the history involving the whole story.
Sorry if my reply was too wordy, I'm a little tired.
I read the book way before I saw the movie, and I was glad they stayed so close to the true storyline. I thought the ending was just really depressing though. But I thought it was really well done.

And I agree about not having flexibility over the ending......but it was just so.....SAD, lol.
How was the book, btw? The movie is a little bit slow....and it kind of takes dedication to follow through.
