The Ninth Division shinigami nods enthusiastically to the Vice-Captain. "Right away, Abarai-fukutaichou!" The shinigami runs off and vanishes around a corner.
After a few long moments, the shinigami returns from around the corner, this time Hisagi following behind. They halt in front of Renji, and Hisagi waves away the shinigami. He nods (enthusiastically again) and runs off to go complete whatever it was he was doing.
Renji inclines his head politely to Hisagi, perhaps not the half bow he would've once given his sempai, but still deferential, nonetheless. "Hisagi. I hope I'm not interrupting. . . ." He trails off, expression hopeful.
Renji takes a quick look around -- probably for other enthusiastic shinigami -- before answering. "Probably best to discuss in your office. Or at least, inside somewhere."
The Wolf cringes down further, hands fumbling with his robe. "He's going to -- going to --"
A small sharp knife slips into his hand from a wrist-sheath, point glistening an unhealthy colour, and he flips it at Hisagi, trying to duck away from the shinigami's blade. But his own reactions are slowed by the portion of the drug that he swalhad to swallow, and he is not as quick as he might be.
Hisagi, in perhaps top condition and focus, would have most likely merely side-stepped the knife and incapacitated the Wolf with a quick blow to the head from his zanpakutou's hilt. However, despite his zanpakutou's help, he is still under the effects of the drug as well, minor they might be, so he does the first thing that comes to mind. Hisagi quickly removes the sword from the Wolf's neck and barely blocks the knife with the blade, the dirk clattering to the floor, but leaving the Wolf completely open to escape or whatever he might choose to do.
Kicking aside anyone who might still be twitching on the stairs or in the hallway, Renji leans through the doorway to squint at the scene. "Oi, Hisagi. He giving you any trouble?"

Hisagi turns his attention to Renji. "Renji."
