[Action | Jump City]

It's been a couple of weeks since last speaking to Robin and Persephone does not mind one bit (or, at least, she's pretending that she doesn't). Their argument has given her the push to actually make the return to Jump City, but without Ivy to give her some sort of direction, the goddess' attempts at doing anything evil have resulted in petty ( Read more... )

For a gardening supply store, this has an awful lot of security. Robin wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with the fact that with the Iron Queen's return to Jump City, gardeners around the city had rushed en masse to the alarm store. This system's not good enough to keep him out of course -- but it is good enough he has to concentrate on disarming it. Don't want Slade's robots to trigger a security call out after all -- caught robbing a gardening store? The embarrassment.

Robin's too busy contemplating how hard that would be to live down, when he hears a noise behind him. Before he can react he's greeted by a very familiar voice. Persephone! He relaxes -- then remembers they're not friends any more.

"Me."

"It doesn't matter," Robin says firmly. "If you don't trust me, you're hardly going to tell me how you are."

"No, I would laugh at you instead," Persephone replies curtly. "Such trivialities are unnecessary when you're trying to knock out an alarm."

Ooh. Cucumber. She'll be taking that, thank you.

"Trivialities," Robin says flatly. Poor security system does not deserve to be handled this way.

"That's what I said," Persephone retorts. At this point, she's wondering if it's worth it to stick around. She could always PINpoint her way out, but...

"They weren't trivial to me," Robin says, pressing the button that will disable the security system. The lights in the room flicker slightly as the system resets. "But I'm starting to think Slade's right."

The goddess pauses the briefest of moments as the lights flicker before focusing her gaze on Robin. "Right about what?"

"No point in friends." Robin says curtly, checking at the time on his communicator. "Ten minutes before the robots get here. You'd better get what you're here for fast."

Pfft, robots. Robots she can handle -- they don't have feelings or try to argue with you or any of that nonsense. They're straightforward in that they try to kick your butt (or steal gardening supplies) and that's about it.

A look of hurt passes across her face and she tucks the seeds she came for into a utility belt patch. "I already got what I came for."

Hey, hey. Slade's robot army is capable of both kicking butt and stealing lots of bags of fertilizer, thank you very much.

"Then go." Robin crosses his arms as he waits.

Persephone watches him a moment. He's serious.

Slowly, she goes over to pick up the fly trap in order to take that back with her as well and makes for the door. It suddenly hits the goddess how ridiculous their argument is, how stupid they're both being -- does it really matter that he was a Titan? He'd still be her friend if he went back to them, right?

She bites her lip a moment before saying softly, "I miss you."

Oh, really. And she supposes Robin doesn't? Robin opens his mouth to remind Persephone that this is her fault but her gesture reminds him that for a goddess she is very vulnerable.

"Don't."

Is that..? Yes. Yes, it's a sniffle.

"Enjoy your robots," she snaps, turning on her heels.

Robin's turn to bite his lip. He really wants to apologise, tell her he's sorry she didn't know that he was a Titan, but that he's still himself regardless. But beneath the lingering resentment, there's a part of him that knows this is best. Hanging around Robin means hanging round Slade even peripherally. Safest if Persephone doesn't -- look what happened to the Titans after all.

The piece of equipment he's holding snaps suddenly and Robin looks down, surprised. He hadn't even realised that he'd picked up the security system. "Ah--"

And that is when the alarm goes off, blaring through the night. It surprises Persephone so much that she lets out a small shriek and nearly drops the poor fly trap cradled in her arms. She turns to Robin wide-eyed with a 'what did you just do?!' expression.

"Oops?" Robin's expression could not be any more sheepish. "Um. Guess I forgot what I was doing."
