It seems really cruel to make a pregnant girl drink a bunch of water and then hold it in for 1-2 hours.  And of course the moment I know I can no longer go to the bathroom all I can think about it how badly I want to pee. I didn't even drink the full amount of water they told me to because last time I did and I thought I was going to explode and

Yay! I'm glad you are going to find out what sex it is! I didn't have to drink water for mine though ...

You're lucky! I cheated and peed 30 minutes after I was supposed to and drank 12 oz less water than they said and I still thought I was going to die in the waiting room! I was sitting on the edge of my seat with my face all scrunched up wondering at what point I needed to let the receptionist know that I couldn't hold it any longer.

I guess they want your bladder full so they can get a good view of the cervix.

That was smart! I just kept thinking about how embarrassing it would be to pee all over the waiting room. The other two pregnant ladies waiting seemed completely comfortable.

I didn't have to drink water either - hmmmm...maybe I had plenty of extra pudge around my belly already to provide whatever they needed. :o)

They said it's so they can see your cervix better. Once they get a good shot of it they let you go to the bathroom so you're comfortable for the rest of the appointment.
