I wonder why is Sungmin so special to Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun seems to be doing this for a long time.
What happens to the protector when the child grows into an adult?
Does the child forget or the protector fades out gradually from the child's life?

As soon as the child gets over his/her insecurities, the protector will gradually fade away. Whether or not the child remembers the protector or not depends on how well the child can remember things. Most would either think their protector was part of a very realistic dream, or a imaginary friend, as how others would see it.
