1) Don't ever stop writing them because this is perfection. 2) I am so glad I stayed up for this.
I could quote your entire fic back at your; or I could just pick out the part that I possibly adored more than the rest (I will have to reread it about sixty more times to be sure.)
“I'm not Isobel. You can't...” Crossing her arms over her chest, Elena sighs, “You can't punish me for what she did. That's not fair.”
Ric nods in agreement before replying, “Then you need to realize my drinking is not the same as Stefan's drinking.”
It isn't until later Alaric realizes, with those statements, they had tacitly agreed what existed between them was more than just comfort.
I think one of my favorite things about this awesome story is Jeremy's reaction, his nonchalance and whatever. I think he'd definitely be like that if Alaric and Elena ever did date on the show.
But this story was exceptional. I'm glad to see others exploring this pairing.
Ah, this is so perfect! I wouldn't have thought Alaric and Elena, but now it seems inevitable and right. If this is not what happens in Season 3, I will be so sad. (Because Alaric in a towel and nothing but a towel? Sign me up!)
Alaric/Elena is a pairing that rarely works for me because I consider him too much of a father figure for her. However, the way you wrote them is fantastic and believable and I enjoyed it more than I ever thought I would. *applauds you*
I've had a lot of people tell me the same thing as far as Elena and Alaric go, but I feel like, while he's a father figure for Jeremy, he and Elena have this weird friendship that's somewhere between parental and actual friend.
