Pandora Hearts Retrace LX Discussion

Apr 17, 2011 23:23

Okay! Chapter 60 is out and we have lots of things to talk about! Prepare yourselves! This chapter was short but it was action-packed!
Sorry I haven't looked this over since I wrote it, I'll probably do it later, please excuse any typos. ^^'
This thing took the exact same amount of time that it would have taken to watch Moulin Rouge. I was about to watch it when I saw that the scanlation was up. )< )

*de-lurks*

I'm waiting for Gil and the others (but espacially Gil!) to hear about Duke Nightray's death. If adoption in the PH world means that someone is indeed considered a son/daughter of a certain house, that makes Gil the new Duke Nightray. I really want to see all the reactions to that little revelation. For one, that makes Gil stand one step above Oz in the social ladder. He always seems to forget/ that he and Oz are technically equals (sons of Dukes), but this will be juuuust a little bit harder to ignore. ...I kind of suspect that he'll give the whole household to Oz as a present with a pretty ribbon wrapped around it. XD

It'll also be interesting to see what Vincent says to Leo. Knowing him, it's probably something mentally scarring. D: Like what astraelle said above: "I reject you" without any context at all.

Woo! De-lurking! Yeah! 8D

I want to read that fanfic. Right now. Would be really cute.
I'm wondering how people will take it as well. Gilbert was legally adopted and took their last name, so he IS a Nightray, and, being older than Vincent, he IS the duke. Now, Duke Gil, what's your first order of business? I suggest you take Oz out somewhere nice, since you've suddenly come into a whole lot of money. XD

Funny thing about that is, Vincent was the one who killed the Duke. So, Gil, the object of Vincent's psycho affections, became a Duke because Vincent killed a man. Sounds fishy...

I'm really loving your gorgeous icon. It matches my layout and everything! *casually steals*. Kidding. ^^'

Brek will have a field day with Gil's new title. And Gil can't even defend himself because Sharon would give him a Look of Doom (while laughing inside the whole time) for harassing a poor bed-ridden Break. XD

I was just thinking the same thing! I wouldn't put it past Vincent to kill the Duke just to give Gil the title. "Well damn, how can I help my adorable brother now that they know I'm a traitor? ...Giving him a title would be a nice going away gift, wouldn't it? omg Duke Gilbert so hot! *____* Off with Daddy's head then! :D"

Gil It really is gorgeous, isn't it? :D Steal away, it's made by epicfail.

That would be hilarious. XD

Vincent really would. Here brother! I know I betrayed you, but it was all for you anyway! And look at what I got you! Noble status! Now you don't have to worry about being beneath Oz anymore! [how does Vincent refer to Oz? He doesn't call him by his name does he?]

Woo! Thanks! 8D

I wonder if Oz and Gil's lack of tears is a sign of them "growing up". I mean, I think they need to grieve as much as anyone, but it's possible that Mochizuki-sensei will keep them more stoic from now on as a sign of maturity.

I love comparing translations, too. Olivine's translation is out:
http://mangahelpers.com/t/olivine/releases/29286
And that line you point out is translated as "You cannot
Return to Mister Oz with your complexion and have him not worry."
So I think you are correct that Sharon is commenting more on Oz worrying than Gilbert's worrying.

I think Oz and Gil's lack of tears is a sign that they NEED to grow up.
Gil used to be a crybaby, and he's trying to leave that image behind. But he's not understanding that's it's okay to cry or to just be upset when things get too hard. Someone more mature than Gilbert (someone like Sharon, who has learned the time for tears) understands this an has taken the time to talk to him about it. I think his teary breakdown will come fairly soon.

And for Oz, the very fact that he's confronting Elliot's death means that he's growing up. The boy sat down in the Abyss and happily ate cookies out of a floating jar. The only time he's ever seriously confronted his emotions was when his father rejected him, and that was only because he was alone. Now there are people around, and Oz isn't afraid to show his grief as far as we've seen. When all his emotions finally spill out of that gaping hole in his chest, then he will be free to get over Elliot's death. And then he will have overcome his greatest obstacle and grown up.

Someone else mentioned that Alice may be "blinded" as well. I think that whatever she is blinded by is something that we haven't found out yet, this is the first chapter of a new arc, after all.

ryoura's theory of lights. I was thinking about that too when I read it ( ... )

It says that Duchess Nightray's younger brother was also killed by the headhunter (pg 32). I wonder who her younger brother was?

And I wonder what he was doing to get himself killed.
He certainly would have been in Elliot's memories if he had threatened Leo, so maybe he was killed by one of the orphans?

The other thing...in this chapter it looks like Vincent took off the head of one of those Pandora guys. Isn't it possible that Vincent could have been lopping off heads of anyone HE wanted to kill, while placing the blame on the Headhunter?

I now think it was probably Vincent who killed Marie, Riitasu and Glooner and then broke the second seal. Everyone said that figure looked female in profile, but Vincent wears an outfit that looks like a dress. And he certainly would have had motivation to be there and break the seal, while Elliot and the orphans would have not.

Very true. It was hard to see what happened to that one guy (maybe Sensei did that on purpose), but he did look like he'd lost his head, or at least had his throat slit.

Wow! So likely! I forgot about them!

So what the heck were the orphans DOING??

I think Oz's calmness about it all might have to do with Jack...maybe? like, he's becoming more like Jack...dunno....

and poor Leo!!! They need to bring Elliot back from the dead somehow!!! =0=!!! T_T and Vincent's being a creep....*frown* *scowl*

Yes, definitely more Oz and Gil interaction...*twitch* there's just been too less lately!!! *pout* *scowl*

The state that Oz is in is common for people who have suffered loss of someone close to them, isn't it? I think he's just growing out of his "pretend everything's okay" stage and is beginning to face reality, but now it's overwhelming him.

Yes. Oz and Gil. I need them back. *twitches*

Sorry, I'm a bit late.

The first thing I feel obliged to say is VINCE YOU TROLL WHY ARE YOU THE VILLAIN NOW I LIKE YOU AND SINCE YOU'RE THE BAD GUY YOU'LL DIE AND WAAAAH.

Also, that black page that said Elliot is dead is mocking me.

Anyhow, although I do feel rather considerably for Gil (Elly was his little brother, afterall.), I Leo is probably suffering the most. Elly was his best friend, afterall. I would love if he goes all pyscho and yandere for Elly and go on a killing spree of some descrption.

I'm very curious about what happened to Duke Nightray. Perhaps the Headhunter lives? *Wants Elliot back so badly*

Wow, I didn't notice that at first. The vest kind of suits him, though.

Okay, well, obviously, I want Elliot back, but I also want with all of my heart for Oz and Gil to have some kind of ginat-ish moment.

Hmmm, yeah, I think that Vince offed him as well. Though, honestly, I can't see why. It's a bit rude to murder the guy who took you in as a child.

I totally agree. And I really hope that Oz and Gil have a moment, exactly like that. But wasn't Oz a litte, I don't know ... cold last time Gil had a break down? Then again, I suppose he was yandere for Alice at the time.

Mmmm, indeed.

You think Vincent cares about who took him in as a child?? Vincent runs on his own agenda. He probably had reasons of whatever sort.

Really? The last time Gil had a breakdown was here: http://www.mangareader.net/350-24664-28/pandora-hearts/chapter-35.html He's certainly ben insecure since then, and he's still had problems since then, but that was his last real breakdown (if you don't count the one in chapter 40, since Oz wasn't there)
