This is true -- at least you get it all over with in one fell swoop. Although my previous experiences with multiple professors do not speak highly of the meetings. I think you'll be fine, though, truly.
By the way, I did get your message last night and there are two books that sort of sound like what you're talking about. One is Georgette Heyer's Regency England, which provides a lot of basic information about the Regency period, including things like money and clothing and rankings and so forth. There's also What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew: From Fox-Hunting to Whist - The Facts of Daily Life in 19th-Century England which is more of a writer's guide and covers the entire century, but is generally informative. I own both, as it happens. That being said, I don't think there's anything specifically on Austen.
