You know how if you make a copy of a copy, the new copy loses a lot of the clarity of the original? Imagine for a moment that instead of gears, toner, and lasers, the copy machine is actually powered by a small army of goblins with barely legible handwriting, and each new copy must be made by passing the previous copy to the next goblin in line.
