Facebook is great for what it is... social networking and time suckage. However, it is not the best place for blogging and it's privacy setting are harder to maintain than LJ. I'll continue to use it to connect to people, but it will never be where my life details are shared.

so, I don't know if it's past it's peak... but I think that it's maxed out on it's purpose.

Yea Chavah pretty much said exactly what I was going to. I use it to chat, play games, catch up with people from years ago, but blogging and real friends and real posting and stuff, LJ is home. I pay for my LJ so . . :)

This.

I enjoy FB for reconnecting. I love LJ 'cos it nourishes that connection.

Also, I've never had an old HS teacher friend me on LJ.

I will say, however, that FB has a much more effective mobile interface, and since much of my time is spent on my phone vs an actual confuser, I would like to see more mobile functionality here.

i know someone who uses Loud twitter i believe to import their tweets to LJ, and they are able to do it under a cut, which is handy since twitter feeds usually include @replies.

Someone on my F-list uses that. I was going to look into it, but, according to the poll responses, there's not much interest in having them here. I'll let the poll run a little longer and see what people think.

I tried the twitter import thing when I first started tweeting, but I don't really tweet enough.

really, i dont like twitter or facebook at all. I got peer pressured to use it because my RL friends use it and they dont want to take the time to ACTUALLY WRITE SOMETHING on a blog. I enjoy lj much more because I enjoy substance. "blogging" and discussion is substance.

twitter, facebook, myspace, etc. (social networking in general) are fake fluff aimed at getting 1232904820489120489 friends on your page, hooking up with old high school friends, or getting laid. All I see over and over again are pictures of people posing at parties and getting drunk. That just reminds me of the immature crap that went on during high school. People take a picture just for the sake of posting it online and gossiping.

annoying in my opinion.

okay, sorry, end rant. ;)

I'm one of those old people the kiddos are complaining are invading Facebook. I find it amusing as hell. My mother has the good sense not to join, because I would refuse to friend her. It's bad enough my cousins can see on my profile that I'm "Interesting in: Dating" because the only way to hide that is to hide ALL the "basic info" from the whole group. Now that I think of it, since I have that info open to "friends of friends" (since meeting new people is the whole point) she could see it anyway if any of them friended her... yeah, parents on FB = badness.

again, this is why i stay anonymous on facebook. no pics, no real name. I dont WANT to be found. I don't like just hanging out there in cyber space for these and many other reasons.

I used a pseudonym when I started, but since finding people from high school and college is really my objective for being there, that kind of defeats the purpose. So I switched over. I don't post pictures there other than one for my profile, and I don't blog there. Just play silly games and stuff.

The only "incriminating" info on there are that I'm bi and dating, and those aren't actually something I hide from anyone anyway. I don't friend people from work because of that though- that's the one privacy problem. Nobody at work needs to know those two things, although they could still stumble on the info through other people it hasn't happened yet that I know of.
