Life imitates Art?

After giving fic-Derek in One Step a mild virus... I seem to have contracted a virus in real life.  The worst seems to be over now, but I still took a second day off of work, just to get my strength back up and whatnot.  I feel a thousand times better than yesterday, and at least now, when I work on Chapter 22, I'll have recent, real-life ( Read more... )

Sorry you are feeling so crudy. Especially considering you are suppose to be helping to care for your recovering grandmother too.

Don't want to get to close to you and get your bug. So, I'll just let you rest. Left the chicken soup in the kitchen.

Thanks! I'm all better now--a little tired, but I'll live. I'm back at work, so yay for that, I guess? It beats the alternative of being home sick, I suppose. I felt well enough to visit a friend last night, and was amazed that my headache disappeared at her house, which makes me wonder if that particular symptom was grandmother-induced and not illness-induced.

Hey Tortie,
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. I'm also way behind on my reading. I'll catch up and comment soon, I promise.
Work is very good. Never take it for granted. A month ago I got laid off. I'd much rather be at work than applying (along with hundreds of others) for jobs I don't really know anything about. It's tough out there. That said, I just bought a plane ticket to Denver to visit a friend. I'm not pleading poverty yet.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your job! We just had a round of layoffs last week at my employer, too; they SAY we're safe for the fiscal year now, but they said there wouldn't be any more layoffs after the first round in January, too, so I'm not putting much stock in that.

I will cross my fingers for you and your job search - and enjoy your trip to Denver. I had a vacation in the middle of my job search, and it was really nice to have that time to relax and think about something that *wasn't* job-related.

Gosh, I didn't mean my post to sound like a sob story! I'm so sorry!
Honestly, I am liberated. I had the Coolest Job in the World (it sucked the life out me, but still, cool), it is now time to grow up and join the real world. I am not surprised by the recent lay offs, the UK music industry is on its knees and has been for some time. Besides, it's time to get a 'proper' job. I can only get away with wearing jeans and Chuck Taylors to work for so long...
