I've missed the boat on pretty much every hit television series of the last 10 years. Survivor, 24, American Idol, The Sopranos, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, LOST, Grey's Anatomy, Alias, The X Files, Everybody Loves Raymond; you name it, I missed out on it.
That all changed this year with a little show the kids like to call "Heroes." Julie starting raving about it midway through the fall, and began devoting Monday nights to her new obsession. I started to feel a bit threatened by this show, figured there was no way I could compete with a dozen superheroes for her affection. I'm just one average joe, y'know?
But I finally decided: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I gave in last month, goaded by Julie into watching a mini-marathon, and then caught the rest of the fall episodes online (God bless you, BitTorrent!). From that point on, I've been officially hooked...and probably even a tad obsessed.
All that to say, last night's episode might've been my favorite thus far; intriguing, faith-affirming, and incredibly moving from start to finish (I may or may not have even shed a few tears during the final scene). Also, it definitely solidified Mr. Bennet and Matt Parkman as my two favorite characters on the show. Well, and Hiro...but who doesn't love Hiro?
OK, fanboy raving over...for now. Look what you've done, Julie.
