What's wrong with Alabama. "Rocket City" is Ala. Redstone Arsenal (RSA) was in Ala. Wernher von Braun worked in Ala. etc., etc. :-)
The type of questions you ask can lead to very interesting soul search and there are a couple of a spiritual places where people just come to talk about it. They (questions) are universal.
Funny that you mentioned birds.
Yesterday someone asked me how come birds came from dinosaurs if they all became extinct? I guess a lot of cold-blooded dinos had to die in order to make way for very smart, warm-blooded flying creatures. :-).
In a way we are like birds - descendandts of last surviving creatures.

The problem with birds and dinos is that in order to become a bird, one has to take all the right turns in his life, or else turn into a fossil no one cares about:(

If you're going to worry about doing all the right things you'll turn into a worry wart for sure :-)

Now, if you'd' just say "yes" to an opportunity - that's another matter. You're not choosing between right and wrong - you're just closing one page and open up another. Not forgetting the previous one, of course :-)
