Drew was on the couch, busy flipping channels with the puppy on his lap tugging on the rope he had bought the little guy. He found his heart jumping just thinking about Lacey; which was pretty sad considering that he should stay away from her. His head still felt that seeing her was a bad idea, but at the same time he couldn’t wait. The puppy could see that Drew was in a daze and he looked up at him with a quixotic look, tilting that small leg. Drew looked down at the pup and let out an exasperated sigh, “Don’t fall for anyone because it just gets complicated” he lectured the pup who probably didn’t understand him, “when you find a nice looking poodle or something, make sure she’s what you really want before you go out and do something you might not think was a good idea

Upon seeing him, Lacey's smile had grown bigger, and she returned his light hug. It was good that he had acted, because she would have just stood there not knowing what to do. Although, part of her wanted the hug to be longer. She did like the way it felt to be held by the man in front of her.
Afterward, she adjust her glasses and saw the adorable puppy on the floor. It was too cute for words, and she went into 'girly' mode as she pet the puppy and spoke to it, as someone would speak to a baby. "He's adorable," she squealed, scratching the pup behind the ears. "Aww...You are such a great guy to save him." She gave the puppy a kiss on the top of his head and then, looked back at Drew, smiling. "He's very lucky to have you..."
A grin grew on his face watching Lacey baby talk to the puppy. It was made evident that the pup loved that. Every once in a while, Drew would do the same thing; except not in front of anyone but maybe his roommate, because knowing the man for more than five years had him very comfortable to do anything around him. And that counted baby-talking to the puppy, although it wouldn’t go without a tease from him. He sighed, “You should have seen this guy; all alone digging in the trash for food…I don’t know how anyone could abandon this guy” he shook his head, remembering the shows he watched that showed horrible violence to animals. The puppy mills were the worse, and he didn’t know how people could treat animals like that. It was pretty sad

Lacey quietly listened as Drew spoke, and followed him into the living room. It was a pretty decent place, but she still preferred her place. He gaze went from the puppy to Drew. It was odd how with Drew, she didn't really have to be doing anything special in order to just feel like she was relaxed and having fun. It was just something that Drew's presence provided her with.
"Um...I've been good. No guys have been giving me trouble," she said. Although, now that she thought about it, there was something that was a bit troubling for her. However, she'd bring that up later. She was enjoying the moment too much to ruin it.
So, she leaned closer and pet the puppy as he played with the rope. "Things have definitely taken an odd turn, but I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I guess I may just play things out...see where it goes...you know?" She gave him a shy smile, and then gave him the same question. "What about you? How have things been with you?"
