I'm very sad to report this, I saw the news yesterday. Alex the Parot (African Gray) died last week, the news was just anouced after a period of time for the scientests and family of the bird to deal with it and beguin to mourn privatly

I remember first reading about Alex 15 or 20 years ago, when I started keeping birds of my own, and as the years went by it was fascinating to read about his progress. He was so amazing.
I would love to own a Grey some day, but I've never felt like I could provide the sort of constant attention and mental stimulation that a bird of that sort really needs. ::sigh::
At least we know that Alex had a good life, and was so very loved.
