A useful article about COVID-19

(Mostly it's what everyone else is saying, but a few facts were new to me, as well as some observations about official responses of some countries and their potential effects.)

"Social distancing’ - reducing human contact - can be achieved by shutting schools, universities, public transport etc, and can mitigate the undetected spread of untested mild cases." - They've started doing this today in Kyiv. And now people are on the verge of panic. But I guess it's only to be expeced.

With only one confirmed case (and this figure wasn't even recent)? That's odd. Or maybe just overly cautious ("early social distancing", like the note at the end of the article suggests).
Here it seems they still use quarantine as a primary measure (I may not be up to date, but I did check the news just now).

Yep, and many people indeed think it's overly cautious. The schools and preschools are shut, and we are not sure what will happen at universities. At the moment classes carry on as usual but they say that all other kinds of activities should be cancelled. We have two conferences coming up next week, which should be called off according to this logic, but it seems like they will go ahead as planned.
Public transport is still running (last time I checked).
